Sometimes I will have a play on both but rarely win both when the total is an under.
The obvious reason to me is that there could be (and usually is with me) a point where winning both becomes impossible. Say you have a team to win and under 8 runs. If the other team scores at least 4 runs in the game then you have to go over to win your side. So esstentially you're betting that a game will go in a very specific way. That isn't the case when you couple a side with an over.

So is it just generally a bad idea to play a side + under?

NO IT IS NOT..BUT YOU DO RUN INTO THOSE TIMES WHERE LIKE YOU SAID YOUR CAUGHT IN THAT SPOT. IT'S LIKE ANY OTHER BET THERE IS A RESULT.WIN OR LOSE. IF YOU SEE THAT YOUR GETTING BEAT JUST BACK OFF AND PLAY JUST FLAT BETS OR TOTALS. HEY IN THIS GAME IT'S HARD ENOUGH WINNING THE GAME & THEN ALSO HAVING THE TOTAL RIGHT YOUR ASKING ALOT. GOOD LUCK'
